Passengers were harnessed and made to descend one at a time from the cable car cabin suspended in the void, fortunately not far from the ground.

This is the procedure adopted to get off the sixteen people stuck for over an hour along the Faito cable car, stopped near the Circumvesuviana station in Castellammare di Stabia, where a cable fell onto the overhead railway line below.

Following the failure, the safety system blocked the cabins and operations to rescue the passengers began.

The images of the rescue, with the passengers being lowered from the cabin with a rope, were posted by the president of the Ente Autonomo Volturno (Eav), which manages the facility.

The prefecture of Naples coordinated the rescue operations.
