The Carabinieri of Bergamo have summoned Sergio Ruocco, the partner of Sharon Verzeni, the 33-year-old woman, a bartender by profession, to the barracks to question him as a person informed of the facts. Verzeni was killed with four stab wounds two weeks ago , on the night between Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 July, while she was walking alone in the evening in via Castegnate in Terno d'Isola, the town in the Bergamo area where she lived. An interrogation that lasted five hours and ended after 9 pm, at the end of which Ruocco – accompanied by his father and not by his lawyers, because he was being questioned as a person informed of the facts – did not make any statements to journalists.

The man, a 38-year-old plumber, had already been questioned in the hours immediately following the murder, also because the investigators' attention had focused - as is natural in such cases - precisely on him: he had told the Carabinieri of Bergamo and the deputy prosecutor in charge of the case, Emanuele Marchisio (today he was instead questioned only by the military of the Arma), that when Sharon had left their house to take her usual evening walk, recommended by the dietician, he had gone to bed because he would then get up early the next morning. Alibi also confirmed by the images from the cameras of two nearby houses , which had not filmed anyone else leaving their house after Sharon, neither from the front gate nor from the back of the fence.

The new summons was not unexpected, it had already been hypothesized that Ruocco would have been resentful because the investigations into the murder have not led to any breakthrough so far. It is not clear, however, whether this new summons is part of these already planned developments in the investigation or whether new elements have emerged , perhaps leaked from other and new interrogations.

Starting from Monday, the Carabinieri of Bergamo and Zogno began to interview one by one all the residents of the area of via Castegnate , looking for some support and some testimony that could prove useful in a rather difficult investigation that sees the investigators entrenched behind the utmost secrecy. Secrecy was also maintained regarding today's interrogation. Alongside these traditional investigations , technical investigations are also continuing: the Carabinieri of the ROS are analyzing over one hundred hours of footage from the cameras of Terno d'Isola and the surrounding towns, while their colleagues from the RIS of Parma are dealing with scientific tests on Sharon's clothes, on some samples taken during the autopsy and on some knives found in the area in the days following the crime, in search of the killer's DNA.

Since the day after the murder , Ruocco has in fact moved to Bottanuco to Sharon's parents' house, where he has continued to live, also because the house where the couple had lived for three years is under seizure . The relationship between the man and his in-laws has always been excellent. Ruocco himself had told the press that he had learned that Sharon had been stabbed and died only at 4 pm the day after the murder, therefore exactly two weeks ago, Tuesday 30 July, when he had left the Carabinieri barracks: the woman had in fact died at the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bergamo the morning after the attack, due to the consequences of the stab wounds (three out of four had proved lethal). The depth of the stab wounds had led investigators to hypothesize that the killer wanted to kill Sharon : but, two weeks later, not even a shred of a possible motive has emerged from the life of the barmaid that could have pushed someone to act with such brutality.
