He allegedly loaded Ilaria Sula's body into a car and took it away in broad daylight. An operation that went unnoticed even by her neighbors , who at 2:00 pm on March 26 were in the building on via Homs, in the very busy Africano neighborhood in Rome.

This is what Mark Antony Samson , the perpetrator of the femicide of Ilaria Sula , has reconstructed. But investigators have doubts about the version offered by the 23-year-old accused of aggravated voluntary homicide and concealment of a corpse. A confession, especially regarding the day and time of the attack, that does not seem to convince investigators. Samson claims to have attacked Ilaria at 11 in the morning, after reading a message on her cell phone from another boy. A rapid action, two lethal stab wounds to the neck while the girl was turned away. For the coroner, the haemorrhagic shock was violent , Ilaria died in a few minutes . In the version of the suspect, who claims to have done it all by himself, everything happened in just under three hours. Samson, after the crime, put Ilaria's body in a suitcase, leaving it temporarily near the front door, and then devoted himself to cleaning her room, using rags and alcohol that he had at home. And again: the young man claims to have thrown the knife and a carpet in a dumpster near his home along with everything he had used to erase the blood traces. Then, still alone, he loaded the suitcase into the car and left to reach the area of Poli, about 40 kilometers from the capital, and throw it into a ravine.

A frenetic activity for which – investigators believe – it is plausible that the young man obtained help from someone. Speaking to investigators, in the hours following his arrest, Samson stated that in those hours at home «his mother was also present». A detail he never returned to, availing himself of the right to remain silent when pressed on the role played by his parents in that dramatic moment.

The investigators, who will analyze the father and mother's cell phones, will return in the next few days, perhaps as early as Monday, to hear the mother, who risks being charged at least with complicity in the concealment of the body. The parent could also provide useful details to shed light on the relationship between the son and Ilaria Sula, a relationship that - according to the young man - ended on March 19. It remains to be seen whether the murder was premeditated in some way, an aggravating circumstance that is not currently contested. In fact, the case file contains the testimony of a friend of the young woman in which she reveals that on March 25, during Ilaria's absence, Samson went to her apartment where he attempted to steal her PC, also taking photos of some "screenshots". A detail that could suggest that the boy was looking for something, perhaps some element of his ex's private life. Meanwhile, the student's funeral will take place in Terni on Monday . Around 2 pm, a procession on foot will set off from the house in Viale dello Stadio towards the municipal cemetery where a small ceremony is planned to give a final farewell to Ilaria.
