First she was forced by her parents to have an arranged wedding – with a wedding celebrated on a social platform – then she was segregated at home by her husband and mother-in-law . The Pakistani girl, residing in Sondrio, also a victim of ill-treatment and violence , was freed by the Carabinieri. Mother and son are now in prison . The charges for both are kidnapping and mistreatment in the family . The couple had lived in the capital of Valtellina for some years, where the man was a warehouseman.
The girl was forced by her parents to marry her cousin at the age of 20 , without ever having seen him in person. After the long period of forced separation , in October last year she moved to Sondrio, where she was finally able to meet him and start a difficult coexistence with him.
Cohabitation immediately proved to be oppressive due to the nagging presence of her mother-in-law , who forced her to a life of deprivation and solitude: she was forbidden to learn Italian and was forced to do only household chores , with rare spaces of autonomy where he could surreptitiously phone his parents in Pakistan. Having informed the relatives in Asia, thanks to a contact in Italy, they managed to call the Carabinieri who gave the young bride back her freedom.
