Santino Bonfiglio, the 67-year-old who confessed to the femicide of his ex-partner Daniela Zinnanti , 50, which occurred last night in Messina, was under house arrest without an electronic bracelet because there were no devices available.

The man violated the precautionary measure to which the investigating judge had subjected him after the second complaint (the first had been withdrawn) from the victim who, due to the violence she had suffered in the past from her ex, had had to seek medical treatment in hospital.

The investigating judge had ordered the suspect to wear the bracelet, which, however, was not available, but had not made the precautionary measure conditional on the obligation to use it . This is what emerges from the investigations ordered by the Messina Prosecutor's Office into the crime.

It also emerges that, according to the first summary analyses by the Forensic Police, Daniela Zinnanti could have been killed (with dozens of stab wounds ) many hours before, or even the day before, she was found in her home last night.

Santino Bonfiglio was retired; he previously worked odd jobs driving a heavy vehicle. The victim was unemployed and cared for his elderly mother. Zinnardi has two children, a son and a daughter from a previous relationship. The daughter who found her dead last night became ill upon seeing her mother's body in a pool of blood and is still hospitalized at Piemonte Hospital for checkups because she is seven months pregnant.

Roberto Zinnanti, the victim's brother , speaks of a foretold femicide: "We are desperate. My five other siblings and I had repeatedly told Daniela to leave that violent man and to have no more contact with him. The last time, after yet another complaint, and after he had sent her to the hospital with seven broken ribs, she had decided to definitively end all contact with this man, who, however, refused to give up. Another foretold femicide . Daniela was a wonderful woman who loved all of us siblings, her daughter, and even my mother, and did everything she could to spend more time with her. Unfortunately, she met this violent man and was initially convinced she could change him, and the first time, after reporting him for abuse, she even withdrew the complaint. But this second time, she didn't. She had even lived with him, but then they didn't get along and she sent him away. Both my mother and I often told her to leave him alone, and finally the last time she followed our advice, but he brutally killed her ."
