The Italian Republic asks the Russian Federation “the immediate cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of forces outside the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine. Italy reiterates its full support for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, a friendly European country and democracy affected in its sovereignty ".

The Italian Republic, the note continues, "expresses the utmost closeness and solidarity with the Ukrainian people and their legitimate institutions, with the victims and with the many people who will suffer the consequences".

THE POSITION OF ITALY - In addressing the current crisis, “Italy will maintain close contact with its partners in all major international fora. Together with EU member states and NATO allies, it is imperative to respond with unity, timeliness and determination. The imposition of severe measures on the Russian Federation sees Italy acting with conviction within the framework of coordination within the European Union ”.

"In order for Europe not to suddenly fall into a whirlwind of wars - the conclusion - it is necessary to act with strength and far-sightedness to restore the primacy of international law and the safeguarding of the principles and values that have guaranteed peace and stability to our continent".

THE PREMIER - Prime Minister Draghi spoke from Palazzo Chigi during the day, underlining how Italy has always pursued the path of "dialogue" to reach a peaceful solution to the crisis. Dialogue now "impossible". With the allies, the premier stressed, our country will not stop seeking a solution to the crisis by demanding an "immediate" end to the "bloodshed" and the "unconditional withdrawal" of troops outside the "internationally recognized" borders of Ukraine. .
