Franco Vacchina, a tire dealer, is under house arrest. He was driving the Porsche that caused the accident on the Asti-Cuneo highway on December 11th, which involved Matilde Baldi , 20, who died five days later in Alessandria hospital. The disputed theory is that the man engaged in a sort of race, starting on the streets of Asti and continuing on the A33 highway, at a speed of 212.39 kilometers per hour . A second man, driving another Porsche, is also under investigation, although it was apparently not involved in the accident.

The young woman was traveling in a Fiat 500 driven by her mother, Elvia, who suffered facial injuries after their car was hit with extreme force. When emergency services arrived, Matilde was in desperate condition: the 20-year-old suffered irreversible brain trauma, and her body finally gave up after five days of agony.

The measure, carried out by the traffic police of Bra (Cuneo), was triggered at the request of the Asti Public Prosecutor's Office at the end of the first phase of the investigation aimed at reconstructing the facts.

According to the prosecution, the businessman also attempted, in the following days, to tamper with evidence relating to the accident.
