The deputy police officer of Milan Cuno Tarfusser filed a report with the Attorney General Francesca Nanni and the Advocate General Lucilla Tontodonati, drawn up on the basis of new elements presented by the defence, for the possible reopening of the case on the Erba massacre .

For this crime, which took place on 11 December 2006, the spouses Olindo Romano and Rosa Bazzi were definitively sentenced to life imprisonment accused of the murder - with knife and crowbar, for reasons related to neighborhood disputes - of Raffaella Castagna, the 2-year-old son Youssef Marzouk, the grandmother of the little Paola Galli and the neighbor Valeria Cherubini. Sole survivor Mario Frigerio, husband of Cherubini, direct witness of the massacre. The apartment in via Diaz, after the massacre, was also set on fire.

The request for revision, already attempted several times by the defense of the couple represented by the lawyer Fabio Schembri, is based on unpublished and never taken into consideration interceptions and testimonies , according to what the lawyer claims.

Prosecutor Nanni and Tontodonati will have to examine the new elements and decide whether to support, with their joint request, the request for review of the trial formulated by the defence.

The Romano spouses are serving a life sentence: Olindo in the Opera prison, Rosa in that of Bollate. For them the verdict of the Supreme Court was definitively issued on 20 April 2010 . The evidence against Rosa and Olindo has always been considered solid, granite: the confession signed by both , the video made by the then defense consultant, the criminologist Massimo Picozzi, where Olindo confesses by making unequivocal comments on his responsibility . The trace of blood of Valeria Cherubini, mixed with male blood, was also found in the car owned by Rosa and Olindo .

Finally , the testimony of Mario Frigerio, the only survivor of the massacre who died in 2014 . «I saw Olindo, he stared at me with murderous eyes, I will never forget his gaze, he was a beast», said Frigerio who escaped the carnage only because he was believed dead by the two spouses. Frigerio had a congenital carotid malformation that allowed him not to die in the Erba massacre.
