The ex-husband of the woman stabbed last night in Marostica (Vicenza) has been arrested on charges of attempted murder. He is a 45-year-old resident of Rosà (Vicenza) and has a criminal record. The attack occurred around 10:50 PM inside a slot machine parlor in Marostica, where the woman works as a bartender. After pulling out a kitchen knife he had brought with him, the man attacked his ex-husband, stabbing her multiple times in the torso, face, and arms, and kicking and punching her body. The woman, screaming and calling for help, attracted the attention of several customers, briefly escaping the man's fury and seeking refuge in another room of the establishment, where she called for more help.
But the man's fury didn't subside: he reached her there too, threatening, insulting, and hitting her again. A customer intervened in a timely manner, suggesting the victim hide among the slot machines despite the danger and calling for help.
The Carabinieri immediately identified the man, who, covered in blood and at the sight of officers, dropped the knife and was subdued. The victim was taken to the hospital in Bassano del Grappa, where his condition is guarded, but not life-threatening. The blade of the knife used in the attack, approximately 14 centimeters long, broke into several pieces, some of which were recovered at the scene, while the tip remained embedded in the victim's left elbow. Investigators then reviewed surveillance camera footage in the room, which confirmed the attack.
