A violent fight that continued for minutes, both inside the apartment and on the B&B's balcony. The fight culminated in the tragic flight that claimed the life of Leonardo Fiorini , the 27-year-old from Isola Liri in the Frosinone area, who died on the evening of November 13th in Rome.
This is what emerged from the initial autopsy results, ordered by the Prosecutor's Office, which charges 25-year-old David Stojanovic with voluntary manslaughter . The investigating judge confirmed the arrest but did not issue any precautionary measures: the young man, who had been under house arrest since Thursday night, is released but remains under investigation . The proceedings, however, continue pending the completion of the autopsy and preliminary investigation.
Initial findings revealed that the victim's body bore injuries related to the physical altercation that allegedly occurred between the two in the moments before he fell from the third floor of the building on Via Calepodio . Residents had reported to the Carabinieri that Fiorini and Stojanovic had been arguing violently for several hours. Witnesses also claimed to have seen the victim being held by the arrested man's feet as he was about to fall . "Run, help me! Break down the door and come here! Throw the mattresses in the courtyard," was the desperate plea for help from the 25-year-old—a clerk at a shop in the center of the capital—who may have realized he had been seen by some residents, who claimed to have seen him push Fiorini over the railing.
According to the medical examiners at Sapienza University, the death was caused by traumatic injuries from a fall. The 27-year-old, who worked as a technician at the Ministry of Defense, died instantly from injuries to his skull and various other parts of his body. As requested by investigators, a series of tests were performed on the body, starting with a toxicology test. The same type of test will be performed on the suspect. The investigators' goal is to determine whether the two had taken drugs in the hours preceding the tragic flight .
Hashish was found in the house, which the Carabinieri found half-destroyed . From testimonies, which will be included in the case coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Giuseppe Cascini, it emerges that the two had been arguing since the early evening. "You could hear screams and the sound of objects being thrown violently," several residents stated. The argument escalated so much that it spilled onto the balcony. "There was a girl screaming 'leave him alone, leave him alone!' She was on the balcony across from the boys," a neighbor recounted. "It was a terrible scene; one of them was hanging naked upside down from the third floor ..."
The questioning before the investigating judge will be scheduled in the coming days. Interviewed by the external prosecutor on duty in the hours immediately following the events, the 25-year-old stated that he "intervened to save" his friend. "He was beside himself; I tried everything I could to prevent him from falling," the young man essentially said. According to the investigation, they had a long-standing friendship that began in Isola Liri, where the two lived. According to the reconstruction, Fiorini had rented the apartment on Tuesday, and then his friend joined him on November 13th. What was supposed to be a fun evening turned tragic.
