Fear is high in Brazzano di Cormons, where a landslide caused the collapse of a house on Via San Giorgio. The collapse was caused by a mudslide that affected the slope of the mountain above.

Local authorities immediately established a red zone in the affected area, both due to the risk of further avalanches and to allow rescuers to safely operate. Several families living downstream were evacuated as a precaution.

Firefighter teams from across the region are working on the scene, searching for the missing and monitoring the ground to prevent further collapse.

Weather conditions and the state of the ground will be crucial in the coming hours to determine the safety measures to be adopted and, if necessary, to allow the return of evacuated residents.

The village of Versa, a hamlet of Romans d'Isonzo in the Gorizia province, is also on high alert : following the flooding of the Torre River, some people have taken refuge on the roofs of their homes . Rescue operations are underway, with firefighters responding with light boats and a helicopter from the Venice air rescue unit.
