"Myself and my six guests on the boat did not feel any impact."
Thus Guido Furgiuele, the criminal lawyer investigated by the Naples prosecutor's office as part of the investigation into the death of the researcher Cristina Frazzica, 31 years old, who died last Sunday afternoon after being hit while on a kayak trip together with a lawyer friend of hers in the waters of Posillipo, in Naples.
«One of my guests – he continues – saw a boy waving his arms at the stern and we went back to help him. He said that the girl had been hit by a very fast boat and we were convinced that it wasn't mine. We couldn't do more than help them and raise the alarm."
The professional's boat, together with two others, were identified by the Port Authority as part of the investigations aimed at shedding light on the serious nautical accident that cost the woman her life. Furgiuele is under investigation for manslaughter and failure to provide aid: the hypothesis is that, after causing the fatal accident, he walked away - to be clarified whether he was aware of what happened or not - and only later came back .
The SOS was launched about half an hour after the accident from the vessel that recovered the young professional who survived the serious maritime accident. The lifeless body of Cristina Frazzica was found a short distance from the crash site by rescuers, immediately after the alarm was raised. It cannot be ruled out that the investing vessel was sailing through the sea at high speed and that the raised bow significantly reduced the driver's visibility. In the past few hours, the victim's family arrived in Naples where they met investigators who, shortly, intend to carry out an autopsy on the body, which will shed light on the causes of the young woman's death.
An examination that will also allow us to find out whether the 31-year-old died instantly or whether timely help could have saved her life. The reports on the boats will now provide confirmation of the identification of the killer boat, investigations which will also concern the kayak on board which last Sunday Frazzica and his Neapolitan lawyer friend intended to spend a peaceful Sunday in the enchanting sea of Posillipo.
Safety at sea was dealt with yesterday by the provincial committee for safety and public order, convened by the prefect of Naples Michele di Bari: «We are putting a powerful device in place - the prefect said at the end - through the police forces on land, the Roan of the Guardia di Finanza and the Port Authority at sea, to curb these illegal situations".
