After the resolution of the City Council, this morning the ceremony was held in memory of the agent of Sestu and the Gold Medal for Civil Value, killed in the attack on Via d'Amelio in Palermo on July 19, 1992 at the age of 24, together with judge Paolo Borsellino and the four members of the escort Agostino Catalano, Vincenzo li Muli, Walter Cosina and Claudio Traina.
Present were the Chief of Police - Director General of Public Security, prefect Lamberto Giannini, the prefect of Arezzo Maddalena De Luca, the commissioner of Arezzo Maria Luisa Di Lorenzo, the mayor of Arezzo Alessandro Ghinelli and the provincial and local authorities.
There was also the niece of Emanuela Loi , also a police officer, born a few months after the mafia attack and who bears the name of her aunt. Moved, she discovered the plaque together with the prefect Giannini. "Places like this - said Giannini - have an important meaning: they are not simply symbolic but become a moment of reflection for all citizens and especially for young people who are the most precious asset of our society to be preserved from any form of illegality" .
After a touching performance of the ordinance silence, with the trumpeter of the State Police Music Band, the students of the “Giorgio Vasari” secondary school of Arezzo sang the national anthem .
