Hundreds of landings between Puglia, Calabria and Sicily on Christmas day
Almost 400 people, while Sea Watch made 4 rescues in a few hours and has 350 migrants on board

Hundreds of migrants landed on Christmas day in Italy between Sicily, Calabria and Puglia.
Arrived aboard various boats, makeshift or non-governmental organizations.
The first landing in the early hours of the morning, when a lookout from the Guardia di Finanza intercepted a sailing boat with a hundred people trying to reach the Calabrian coast at Capo Rizzuto.
On the ship, coming from Turkey, there were also 25 children. The migrants were transferred to the reception center of Isola Capo Rizzuto where, after the swab, they began the quarantine period. The military of the GDF also identified two suspected smugglers.
Then it was the turn of the Ocean Viking, which docked at the port of Trapani with 114 people on board. The refugees were escorted by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command to the identification center in Contrada Milo. The minors and vulnerable subjects were identified, the others went to the GNV quarantine ship.
Another 89 migrants arrived in Lampedusa, aboard a makeshift wooden boat of nine meters. They were tracked down after hours of searching by the Coast Guard. In fact, the boat had been sighted but then traces of it were lost and the worst was feared also for the sea conditions.
The 89 migrants said they came from Bangladesh, Eritrea, Pakistan and Gambia. At the hotspot in the Imbriacola district there are 438 guests, compared to 250 places available.
Another landing took place in Salento, in Santa Maria di Leuca, where a sailing boat arrived with 74 people on board, including 25 unaccompanied minors and three women. They are largely Afghans.
The boat was intercepted by the Guardia di Finanza in Capo di Leuca, the military also identified two alleged smugglers.
Meanwhile, in the Mediterranean Sea Watch 3 has carried out four rescues in just over 30 hours, on board the ship there are now 350 people.
