Horror in Sondrio where a 44-year-old woman returning home after work at a public place was the victim of a brutal sexual assault by a young foreigner who also robbed her.

Within hours, the Sondrio State Police arrested a 24-year-old man from Mali, a resident of the Colorina reception center in Valtellina . He was charged with sexual assault, robbery, and grievous bodily harm.

The attack occurred last night, not far from the train station, around 11:30 PM. Officers from the Flying Squad responded to a report from the emergency services . The victim was found on the ground, bleeding and semi-conscious. Her face was swollen, her ear bitten off, and she had deep lacerations on her body, with blood dripping from her eyes. She was rushed to the emergency room and is now in the intensive care unit undergoing treatment and checks.

Thanks to the description provided by medical personnel who saw the attacker walk away, the police located the twenty-four-year-old nearby , in a confused state and with blood-soaked clothes. The victim's documents and bank card were found in the backpack he was carrying.

The young foreigner, having informed the Public Prosecutor's Office headed by Piero Basilone, was arrested and taken to Sondrio prison pending validation of the arrest.
