They spent their whole lives together and died within hours of each other. Salvatore Solinas and Graziella Trento had been married for decades and lived in San Lorenzo di Albignasego, in the province of Padua.

He, a 91-year-old Sardinian, and she, an 82-year-old from Trentino, passed away, leaving their three sons, grandchildren and daughters-in-law in grief, as reported by the local press.

Salvatore had retired after having been a prison officer in Padua, his wife was a professional nurse.

Graziella died last Monday, after various suffering, at 8.40. Salvatore felt ill the morning of the next day, suffering a heart attack that left him with no escape.

The funeral of the spouses will be celebrated with a single service tomorrow in the church of San Lorenzo in Roncon in Albignasego.
