The Milan Juvenile Prosecutor's Office has requested a 20-year prison sentence for Riccardo Chiarioni, who on the night between August 31 and September 1, 2024 , at the age of 17 , killed his father, mother, and 12-year-old brother with 108 stab wounds in their villa in Paderno Dugnano (Milan). The request was made in the abbreviated trial before the Juvenile Court.
For the Prosecutor, the aggravating circumstances, including premeditation, must prevail over the partial mental defect ascertained by an expert report on the boy, now 18 years old. The defense attorney Amedeo Rizza asked for an acquittal due to total incapacity . The sentence will be delivered in the afternoon. During the discussion, the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office asked for the maximum sentence for the boy, 30 years, reduced by a third for the trial, and that the aggravating circumstances, including premeditation, prevail over the mitigating circumstances and the semi-incapacity to understand and want. The defense, on the other hand, asked that a total mental defect be recognized and that he be acquitted or, alternatively, that a sentence be imposed taking into account the partial defect and the mitigating circumstances.
In the psychiatric report, filed on March 14 and signed by Franco Martelli, it was stated that the boy lived between reality and "fantasy", wanted to take refuge in a fantasy world, which he called "immortality", and to reach it in his mind he was convinced that he had to free himself of all affections. An explanation, at the level of psychic and psychological analysis, for that terrible massacre that has always remained without a real motive. The 17-year-old, on trial for aggravated voluntary homicide and detained in the juvenile prison of Florence, according to the expert, was partially incapacitated when he exterminated his family, after there had been a party at home that evening for his father's birthday.
"I really wanted to erase my entire life from before," he had stated in the statement, speaking of that "malaise" that had lasted for some time, but had worsened in the summer, and saying that he felt "alien" to the world. "I wanted to be immortal, by killing them I could live freely," he had said. "It was the night of the party that I thought of doing it," he had reported in front of the investigating judge Laura Margherita Pietrasanta, after the arrest in the investigations of the prosecutors Sabrina Ditaranto and Elisa Salatino, conducted by the Carabinieri. The defense also appointed a consultant, the psychiatrist Marco Mollica, who concluded that he had a mental disorder with total mental insanity. The Juvenile Court had already ordered specific treatment for the boy in recent weeks in a psychological and psychiatric recovery program. The other family members, including the grandparents, have always remained close to the boy.
