A 60-year-old man, Giuseppe Babbo, from Conversano in the province of Bari, died after being hit by a high-powered pirate car.

It happened on the ramp of provincial road 50 which connects the hamlet of Cozze to Conversano around midnight.

According to what we learn, the car of the victim's son, a twenty-six year old, was stopped on the ramp and had run out of fuel. The sixty-year-old would have reached the boy, who was in the company of his wife who is six years younger, with a can of petrol: while he was pouring the fuel into the tank a car hit him and killed him.

The police are investigating the incident and must trace the identity of the motorist who did not stop to help. The twenty-six year old was instead rescued by 118 personnel and transported under yellow code to the Monopoli hospital.

The twenty-year-old was also taken to hospital in a state of strong agitation.
