After several hours of searches, the lifeless body of Mario Porro, 66 years old, was found this morning by firefighters, the man from Cantù (Como) missing since yesterday afternoon, when he fell into the waters of the Serenza stream in flood .

The discovery took place about three km downstream from the point where he had fallen into the water; divers intervened to recover him.

Porro, who is one of the volunteers who make the Cantù Carnival floats, went out yesterday afternoon with two friends - just outside the shed where they were working - to watch the flood of the stream from a small bridge, which collapsed, dragging him into the water .

The metal bridge was built a few months ago on the sluice of a rolling tank, yesterday suddenly the masonry part gave way causing Porro to fall into the turbid waters of the stream.

The watercourse a few hundred meters further on fills up under the houses: last night the firefighters found the work coat he was wearing caught in a tree; this morning, with the waters lower, they walked along the bed of the Serenza until they found the body .
