11 years have passed since that tragic accident, it was July 19, 2012 when Giovanni Zecchini, 13 years old at the time, fell about ten meters into the void after climbing onto the roof of a swimming pool being renovated in Mira, in the Venetian area. An accident that had caused very harsh consequences for the boy.
He had been left quadriplegic due to a series of injuries. His family has always been by his side, following him in everything. A few days ago Giovanni died.
The young man, who was 25 years old, on the day of the tragedy was with some friends, they had gone to play on the construction site, they had crossed the wall to reach the roof, passing over a skylight that had given way. The 13-year-old had fallen downstairs into the empty pool. The alarm went off immediately, then the hospitalization, the treatment. But Giovanni never recovered. The funeral is scheduled today, the whole community will be there to say goodbye to him, that community which has always shown him great affection over the years.
