"My son Andrea is innocent." Giuseppe Sempio, father of the only suspect in the new investigation into the Garlasco crime, reiterated this to Tg1 .
"We are strong in his innocence; that's what sustains us. My son didn't kill Chiara Poggi; he had nothing to do with it. This is cowardice ," Giuseppe Sempio's attack. From whom? "I don't know."
Andrea, the man said, was at home with his parents on the morning of the murder: " My son was at home with me that day . Should I look him in the eye and ask him if he had anything to do with the murder? There's no need, he was at home with me. Then he made the trip to Vigevano and then we came back and took this road here, where there are the photos and everything else ."
Giuseppe Sempio is under investigation in Brescia along with the former deputy prosecutor of Pavia, Mario Venditti, for corruption in judicial documents : the hypothesis is that he bribed Venditti to persuade him to request the shelving of the first investigation into his son, the one in 2017. The accusation is based on a note found at Sempio's home ("Venditti investigating judge shelves case for 20-30") and on financial movements within the family.
Meanwhile, the first expert reports from the defendant's defense are expected shortly. The party's investigation reports will be filed within 20 days of notification of the conclusion of the investigation, which occurred on May 8th.
The reports will be accompanied by a brief from the defense, who, only after reading the results of the in-depth investigations they requested to disprove the charges, will decide whether to request a questioning.
Five consultations will be presented: a personality one, a forensic one on the causes and timing of death , an anthropometric one to verify whether the fingerprints can match the dimensions of Sempio's foot , another one that will aim to clean up the "hard to understand" audio from the wiretaps, and, finally, a "reply to the BPA" from the RIS of Cagliari, the analysis of the blood traces to reconstruct the dynamics of the crime, and a "supplementary dactyloscopic examination" on the famous fingerprint 33 , found on the wall of the stairs at the bottom of which Chiara's lifeless body was discovered.
