Denise Galatà, the 19-year-old student who had been missing since yesterday after falling into the water while rafting on the Lao river, in Laino Borgo (Cosenza), during a school trip, was found dead.

It was the divers of the fire brigade who identified the young woman's body, a short distance from the point where she had ended up in the water.

Denise's lifeless body, according to what we learn, was a few meters deep in the river waters. The most reliable hypothesis is that the girl, after having ended up in the water at the moment of the collision between the dinghy she was on and the other vessel that was proceeding further ahead, did not have the strength to re-emerge and drowned.

The investigations are being carried out by the carabinieri of the Compagnia di Cassano allo Ionio, under delegation from the Castrovillari prosecutor's office.

The Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara has made it known that he is following the situation and has asked the USR of Calabria to carry out checks to verify that all safety measures have been taken. In fact, the young woman was on an educational trip with the "Giuseppe Rechichi" high school in Polistena (Reggio Calabria).
