Roberto Formigoni obtained a probationary assignment to social services from the Milan Supervisory Court.

For the former president of the Lombardy Region, who was serving the final sentence of 5 years and 10 months in home detention for corruption in the Maugeri-San Raffaele affair, the judges have established that he will be able to teach , as he had requested, Italian to foreign nuns of the Piccolo Cottolengo Don Orione Institute .

In February 2019, the 75-year-old "Celeste", after the final sentence for corruption, entered Bollate following the imprisonment order signed by the Milanese Attorney General. The defense had immediately asked for the suspension of the execution order and the possibility of serving the sentence in home detention, as the "corrupt sweeps", the lawyers argued, had entered into force after the crimes reported to the former president Lombard and therefore, according to the defense, could not have retroactive value.

After about 5 months in prison , on 22 July 2019, the Supervisory Court had said yes to the house arrest on the basis that the requirement of "impossible collaboration" existed: the former governor has always professed innocence and therefore, according to the judges , can no longer collaborate to disclose further details on the Maugeri case. Formigoni, then, presented the application for probationary assignment to social services in the autumn of 2020 when the sentence to be served had fallen below 4 years, as required by law. Now the decision of the Surveillance judges has arrived. The end of his sentence for him is scheduled for March 2024 .
