Maria Messenio and Pasquale Carlomagno, parents of Claudio Carlomagno, the man arrested for the murder of his wife , Federica Torzullo, in Anguillara (Rome), were found dead. The couple's bodies were found in their home; they apparently committed suicide by hanging themselves. A tragedy within a tragedy.

"There are no words, only silence," wrote Anguillara Mayor Angelo Pizzigallo on social media. He added: "These are hours of further profound pain for our town and for me personally. The news of the deaths of Maria Messenio and Pasquale Carlomagno affects me as mayor, and affects us as the Administration and the community, but above all, as people who shared a personal and institutional journey with Maria, who served this city as a councilor with commitment and dedication."

"In the face of such enormous tragedies, words struggle to find space. Only the duty of respect, silence, and human solidarity remains for those who suffer and for an entire community further devastated. Anguillara Sabazia is going through another moment of great pain. As an Administration, and as citizens, we are called to stand together with discretion and dignity," the mayor wrote.

Maria Messenio was a well-known figure in the local administration of the Lazio town. She was the Security Councilor for the Municipality of Anguillara until a few days ago , when—following the discovery of her daughter-in-law's body and the arrest of her son—she submitted her resignation with a letter addressed to Mayor Pizzigallo.
