17 years after the Erba massacre , Rosa Bazzi and Olindo Romano return to a courtroom. For them today the "trial of life" opens. Before the second section of the Court of Appeal of Brescia, the spouses serving life sentences once again hope for a review that could change the sentence. She comes from Bollate prison, he from Opera prison.

The hearing has been postponed to April 16, on which day the defense of the two spouses from Erba will begin to speak. It was the defense in particular that asked for the postponement to adequately respond to the prosecutor and the attorney general.

According to first, second and third degree sentences, on 11 December 2006 the two killed their neighbors Raffaella Castagna, little Youssef, his mother Paola and Valeria Cherubini, who lived on the top floor of the building, with bars and stabs. condominium. Sole survivor: Mario Frigerio, who later became the super witness to the brutal murder. The couple's arrest came almost a month later, with the confession, which was later retracted. But after years of legal battles, the long-awaited request for review has arrived.

Olindo hopes for a calm and objective trial and reiterates his own innocence and that of his wife Rosa Bazzi . And in a letter written to the Lombard journalist Marco Oliva he says that «I found out the news by calling Rosa, she was very excited and I was excited too, I couldn't wait to do the trial again. We - he added - expect that there will finally be a real trial that objectively evaluates the evidence. I want to thank the Attorney General of Milan Tarfusser who helped us regain our trust in justice. We hope that in Brescia there are magistrates who will calmly evaluate all the anomalies in this matter. In recent years, Rosa and I have missed the chance to be together like we did before, that's all we want."

Olindo also commented on the recent statements of Giuseppe Castagna, who lost his mother, sister and nephew in the Erba massacre. «I think that the Castagna brothers - wrote Romano - should be interested in understanding how the facts really happened and I don't understand why they hide their heads in the sand so as not to face the countless doubts that continue to emerge from this affair. I don't know who the culprit is and I can't accuse anyone without proof, I know what it means and I don't wish it on anyone."
