Elderly and disabled people beaten and humiliated in nursing homes: 7 arrests
A total of 16 people are under investigation in the Syracuse area. The investigation follows several reports of abuse.

The Carabinieri of Noto and the NAS of Ragusa have executed arrest warrants against seven people (but there are 16 under investigation in total) accused, to varying degrees, of mistreatment and violence against disabled and elderly patients admitted to two residential communities in the municipality of Pachino.
The investigation, coordinated by the Syracuse Public Prosecutor's Office, documented the violence and humiliation suffered by 20 residents—mentally disabled and elderly—of two social and healthcare facilities.
The investigation was prompted by reports from several citizens who said that disabled people were forced to live in poor conditions and without adequate assistance.
