She broke her ankle after falling into a ravine where her violent partner reached her not to help her but to punch her in the eye before suffocating her by covering her nose and mouth with his hand.
According to the Carabinieri and the Naples Prosecutor's Office , Marta Maria Ohryzko, the thirty-two-year-old Ukrainian woman who died on July 13, 2024 in Vatoliere di Ischia, was allegedly the victim of femicide . Her murderer, according to the hypothesis, was her 41-year-old partner Ilia Batrakov, already detained for this incident, who is now charged with aggravated voluntary homicide.
The new charges were notified in the Naples prison of Poggioreale, where the Russian citizen has been detained since 15 July 2024, after the notification of an arrest warrant issued by investigators for the crime of family mistreatment aggravated by the event of death.
The environmental and telephone interceptions and the results of the autopsy gave a turning point to the investigations of the Ischia military . The voluntary homicide is contested in the form aggravated by abject and futile motives, and by the fact that the suspect would have acted "taking advantage of circumstances of time, place and person such as to hinder public and private defense".
When questioned by the Carabinieri at the time, Batrakov said that his partner had left the caravan where they lived after an argument, and then fallen into the ravine, breaking her ankle. Several times, it was confirmed, she had asked the man for help on her cell phone in vain before dying, not from an embolism caused by the fracture, as was initially assumed, but killed, according to the new investigative findings, by the forty-one-year-old Russian.
