After his arrest last September, a 40-year-old from Cagliari was sentenced by the Latina magistrate to 4 years and six months in prison.

The man, Damiano Murgia, had ended up in handcuffs during an operation by the Finance Police on charges of possession of drugs for drug dealing.

The Fiamme Gialle had discovered a cultivation with about 9,000 Indian hemp plants in a land in Aprilia that was apparently intended for sativa hemp.

During a series of checks on the farm, the owner, the 40-year-old Sardinian, had tried to demonstrate the regularity of the plantation by showing accounting documents for the purchase of certified seeds but the file was not complete.

According to Finance, the product of cultivation would have yielded around 10 million euros.
