Crushed by a fifth wheel while checking containers at the port: worker dies instantly
A 52-year-old man was killed, another worker was injured. A 24-hour strike was called

Fatal accident in the port of Genoa Prà.
The victim was a 52-year-old worker: according to an initial reconstruction, he was on the ground and was checking the seals of a container when he found himself in the middle of a head-on collision between two fifth wheels, special vehicles that move containers. In particular, one of the vehicles was stationary while the other was moving and, for reasons yet to be clarified, did not stop. The 52-year-old was crushed and died instantly.
The man in the stopped vehicle was thrown and ended up on the ground: he has injuries to his head and back and was transported with red code to the San Martino hospital.
The prosecutor on duty has opened a case for manslaughter and has seized the area, the vehicles and the driver's cell phone. The inspectors of the Prevention and Safety at Work unit of the ASL3 are interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the tragedy.
Meanwhile, the port will remain closed for mourning and a 24-hour strike has been proclaimed.
