Alberto Stasi was admitted to work outside the prison and for four months he has been leaving the Bollate institute every day before returning.

The 39-year-old is serving a 16-year sentence for the murder of his girlfriend, Chiara Poggi, which took place in Garlasco, in the Pavia area, on August 13, 2007.

Stasi has been authorized to carry out external work by the surveillance court of Milan. He performs accounting and administrative tasks and must comply with strict requirements on the times of exit and return to the cell, on itineraries, on controls and on the means of transport that can be used.

In 2018 he reached a civil settlement with the Poggi family that commits him to repay 700 thousand euros: half already paid and half promised with monthly deductions on the salaries of work first in prison and then out.

The end of the sentence is scheduled for 2030 but he could take advantage of probationary assignment from 2025.
