Following yesterday's tornadoes and hail in the provinces of Cremona, Mantua, Bergamo, and Pavia, Lombardy will request an extension of the state of emergency, already declared in recent days due to the damage caused by the wave of severe weather that hit the region starting on August 20th. The Region announced this in a statement.

The city hardest hit by rain and hail in the last few hours was Cremona, hit by a tornado that in just 10 minutes caused widespread devastation: more than forty injuries, fortunately none serious, dozens of homes and buildings with roofs blown off, and at least eight families left homeless and evacuated. At least ten churches were also damaged, including the cathedral, and thousands of trees felled. Initial estimates suggest the hail also damaged at least 10,000 cars.
