Italy still in the grip of Omicron, but with data that give hope we are approaching the peak of infections and deaths. This was also remembered by the president of the Higher Health Council, Franco Locatelli, who specified that "the data situation of the last few days undoubtedly indicates a slowdown".

"Above all - added Locatelli - the sign of the reduction of new entrants in intensive care and medical beds is relevant".

On a daily level, the percentage of places occupied by Covid patients in hospital wards remains at 30% in Italy, but is growing in 12 regions: Abruzzo (32%), Emilia Romagna (29%), Friuli (36%), Lazio (32 %), Lombardy (33%), Marche (29%), Molise (11%), PA Bolzano (22%), PA Trento (28%), Puglia (25%), Tuscany (27%) and Val d ' Aosta (57%).

Decreasing figures only in Liguria (40%) and Veneto (24%). Stable situation in Sardinia (18%), as well as in Basilicata (25%), Calabria (40%), Campania (31%), Piedmont (31%), Sicily (38%), Umbria (29%).

On the other hand, the percentage of intensive care units occupied by Covid patients remains at 17% in Italy and 15% in the island. However, seven regions are above the 20% threshold: Trento (27%), Piedmont (24%), Friuli and Tuscany (22%), Lazio, Marche and Val d'Aosta (21%).

On a daily level, the rate drops in 4 regions: Lazio (21%), PA Bolzano (17%), Piedmont (24%), Puglia (13%). However, it is growing in as many: Basilicata (8%), PA Trento (27%), Tuscany (22%), Veneto (17%).
