Italy that is moving towards the abolition of the Green pass, but not before March 31st, the day on which the state of emergency expires and will probably not be extended.

This was stated by Undersecretary for Health Andrea Costa: "The abolition of the Green pass is a hypothesis on which we are thinking", he declares, recalling that "for several days now the data have been positive and also highlight a relaxation of the pressure on our hospitals, which is the most positive aspect in addition to the reduction of infections ".

So "it is clear that we will go in that direction, I believe that with the end of the state of emergency a new phase will certainly begin which will be highlighted by a relaxation of the restrictive measures".

As for the vaccination obligation for over 50s, Costa stresses that "it is a rule that we must deal with until June 15", and does not rule out an extension. “We evaluate the data for the next few weeks and then when the obligation expires, the government will make the necessary evaluations. An extension cannot be excluded, there is still an audience of Italians over 50 who have not been vaccinated, we expect it to shrink again and then, close to the deadline, we will make the assessments ".

Another theme, indoor masks: "We are reflecting, we have given a first signal with the elimination of outdoor masks and certainly in the coming weeks we will evaluate the issue here too by evaluating those that are the most crowded places compared to those where there is less concentration of people. However, we must face everything gradually and we will still have to finish the vaccination campaign for those who have not received the third dose, this is the goal we must reach in order not to frustrate all the sacrifices ".

RICCIARDI - The consultant to the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza disagrees with the abolition of the Green Pass.

The Green Pass "is still needed. Together with the vaccination it must become one of the two pillars of the new normal. If we remove them we are at risk. It would be the third time we make the same mistake, the third year in which we think that everything is over and then we we find with the curve that goes up ". For all of this 2022 "obligation and Green Pass must be maintained. We are still in a year of transition. We must see what will happen in October to understand if the virus will recur and with what vehemence, so it is essential to already have the tools that allow us to fight it in the most effective way ".
