Condominial dispute, shoots and kills three people. Among the victims a friend of Prime Minister Meloni: "It's not right to die like this"
A crime planned in every detail by Claudio Campiti, who had harbored a grudge against the Consortium for years. This morning he entered the bar where a meeting was being held and opened fireA tragedy that took place in the gazebo of a bar in Fidene (Rome) where this morning around thirty people had gathered to discuss the future of the Valle Verde Consortium, a complex of villas in the province of Rieti.
Claudio Campiti, 57, "entered, closed the door, just said 'I'll kill you' and started shooting" , said the vice president of the consortium Luciana Ciroba. "He aimed at people who were across the table, at the board of the company."
Endless moments of terror, three victims: Sabina Sperandio, Elisabetta Silenzi and Nicoletta Golisano, the latter a friend of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni . Four were injured, among them a 50-year-old woman hit in the skull: she is very serious.
THE COMMON POST OF THE PREMIER
«You can't die like this», said Meloni, who dedicated a post to her friend Nicoletta : «She was a protective mother, a sincere and discreet friend, a strong and fragile woman at the same time, but above all a professional with a sense of duty out of the ordinary. It was that sense of duty that brought her there, on a Sunday morning, where a man was waiting for her to be shot dead, along with two other women, during a condominium meeting in Rome. Nicoletta was my friend. She leaves her husband Giovanni and a splendid ten-year-old son, Lorenzo. With his, other families, to whom I express my closeness, have been destroyed. The man who killed these three innocent women, and injured three other people, has been arrested and I hope justice will take its course as soon as possible. The shooting range from which he had stolen the gun (the license to carry firearms had been refused) is under seizure. Yet the word justice can never be compared to this story. Because it's not right to die like this. Nicoletta was happy, and beautiful, in the red dress she had bought for her fiftieth birthday party a few weeks ago. For me it will always be beautiful and happy like this ».
THE TESTIMONIALS
Fidene's hero is 67-year-old Silvio Paganini . Like so many others, he saw death in the eye, but when perhaps the semi-automatic glock the killer was holding jammed he found the strength and courage to stop the slaughter: « He had already killed three people, I would have been next . I threw myself on him out of desperation and managed to block him ».
“He had blocked the door and it took me a while to get people out – says another eyewitness -. If it wasn't for us it would have been a massacre, it had 2 magazines and other cartridges. I saw a girl next to me who was shot and died."
THE MOTIVE
Claudio Campiti, who was arrested, acted by planning all the details . He wanted to make a massacre, that's why he stole the weapon from the range (they had refused him a firearms licence).
For years he harbored anger towards the Consortium. In the past there had been verbal threats, everyone knew him for his situation but no one would have ever thought it could go that far.
In 2012, his only 14-year-old son Romano died in a mountain accident in South Tyrol . He had dedicated the following years to following the judicial process, convinced that that track was too dangerous for a kid. A ski instructor and two managers of the plant were convicted, the family also obtained 240 thousand euros in compensation.
But he couldn't rest, for his son and for that Consortium where he lived in "borderline" conditions and towards which he had developed a real paranoia, so much so that he opened a blog in which he called it "a criminal association" .
Campiti «pretended – says the mayor of Rocca Sinibalda Stefano Micheli – to make the basement of a building under construction habitable, of which there was only the skeleton. It couldn't be done, but he lived in it . There was also no connection to the sewers ».
The economic conditions were not the best. "I don't know if he had a job or not - continues the mayor -, he had the ownership of this basement to which he was very attached, I think for him it was the only thing he had".
His obsession was that she was removed from that Consortium because he didn't pay the expenses . The members of the Consortium had denounced him several times for threats, last summer he had also taken it out on the children.
Campiti claimed to have suffered damage to the electricity box, to the mailbox. Even threats of "shooting shots for those who do not respect the rules of the Consortium".
" They are keeping me without public lighting, you know, in the dark you can see less and you can shoot in peace," he wrote on social media. But in the end he pulled the trigger, more than once .
