A 28-year-old woman died after Caesarean delivery in Taranto , the baby girl she was carrying in her womb is safe and well. Some complications that led to cardiac arrest after cesarean cause death.

The girl, explains the ASL in a note, was in the fortieth week of gestation of her first pregnancy. On Monday 29 August she was admitted to the Santissima Annunziata in Taranto "for premature rupture of the membranes ". Having requested not to continue with the induction of childbirth, she underwent a caesarean section .

After the surgery, the health company still says, routine checks revealed a "reduction in hemoglobin compatible with the surgery". Therefore, "after a short interval", another check was carried out which revealed a "severe anemia", a haemorrhage .

The health personnel “immediately activated all the necessary procedures, but the young woman went into cardiac arrest. Every procedure foreseen by the protocol was implemented and an emergency surgery was performed but, unfortunately, for the woman there was nothing to do ".

The newborn , who weighed 2 kilos and 580 grams at birth, is in good condition, "followed by the staff of the Operative Unit of Neonatology of the Tarantino hospital".

The Taranto ASL management, the head physician and the department “intend to express - concludes the health company - their condolences for the loss of this young woman, on the day that should have been one of the happiest of her life. Our deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones ”.
