As the case of the alleged rapist of Sardinian origin Massimiliano Mulas , accused of sexual violence on an 11-year-old girl from Mestre , mounts, other elements emerge about the man's stay in Gallura . Facts destined to fuel the controversy over the long series of crimes (robbery, sexual violence, theft, extortion and private violence) for which the man is on trial or has already been convicted.
The Carabinieri of Tempio had in fact written down their assessments on Mulas' propensity to commit crime . All written in 2019, the man (convicted three times for sexual violence and now accused in Veneto of the rape of the child) was in Tempio, at his mother's house, to serve a residual sentence. And in Tempio he had targeted a widow, a person with mental stability problems . For this reason the military had burst into Mulas's home, searching it. After the activity and after having gathered information on the victim and the relationship with Mulas, the Carabinieri had requested "an appropriate precautionary measure aimed at preventing the repetition of the crimes" . And Mulas had been reported, also to the judiciary, for his social dangerousness .
The proof is in the documents of the trial against the man currently underway in the Gallura court , where Mulas is accused of defrauding an incompetent person for the alleged theft of money (around 30 thousand euros) from the widow, to whom he had promised marriage .
But the social danger remained on paper. Subsequently Mulas leaves Sardinia and, according to investigations opened in Piedmont, begins to commit other crimes in the Cuneo area and then moves to Veneto.
In 2019, however, the Carabinieri were on alert for the fate of the widow to whom Mulas had promised cohabitation, asking for and obtaining money. The military managed to protect the woman, the widow was not harmed. But their insistence on the need for more incisive measures had no response.
