Leak of chemicals in the factory: thirty intoxicated

Leak of chemical substances in the Galvanoplast plant, a company specializing in the chrome plating of plastic materials, in Gravellona Toce (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola).

Three people are hospitalized in Verbania hospital while another 23 will undergo health checks . The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Carabinieri, police, firefighters and Spresal personnel intervened on the spot.

From an initial reconstruction it seems that the harmful gas would have been released by virtue of a reaction that occurred by mistake, probably during the mixing of sodium bisulphite and another acid .
