A 5-year-old boy is hospitalized in serious condition in Padua after being removed by firefighters from a car that crashed into the Sile River in Jesolo (Venice), leaving his parents unharmed. The accident occurred in the early afternoon on Via Piave in Jesolo. The car apparently ended up in the river after the driver lost control.

The parents managed to save themselves and call for help, but their child remained trapped in his car seat, strapped in by the seatbelt as the car sank. Firefighter divers, who arrived immediately, were able to free him from a depth of seven meters.

Divers dove into the river, reached the car, and after cutting the seatbelt, brought the boy to shore. He was then rushed to the hospital in Padua. The vehicle is being recovered using a crane from the Treviso command center. Carabinieri officers are on site. The parents, who are Moldovan, were also taken to the hospital.
