"It was a nightmare night and we are still terrified : to see, without being able to intervene for fear of reactions, young people who twice force the door and enter the church and also go up to the convent floors, in addition to anguish and fear it generated in us the violation of our intimacy as cloistered nuns ".

Speaking is Sister Giovanna , one of the eight nuns of the Celestine order , who live in the monastery of San Basilio , in the historic center of L'Aquila .

Here, during a "white night" with open clubs and events organized around the city, a group of young people broke into the church , upsetting the quiet that governs the lives of the nuns.

The vandals not only entered the sacred building before dawn, spilling beer and also desecrating a confessional , where two of them also allegedly had sex (the nuns reported seeing a young man and a girl naked ), but they also went up to the floor where the nuns sleep.

The latter, frightened by the noise , alerted the carabinieri, but in the meantime the boys managed to escape.

The abbess, Sister Margherita, then filed a complaint with the military , who began investigations to trace the perpetrators.
