Group sexual violence is being investigated in the case of the assault on a girl that took place on New Year's Eve in Piazza Duomo in Milan.
The 19-year-old was surrounded by about thirty young people and sexually abused. Her attempts to defend herself by chasing them away with the bag were useless. The attackers then managed to escape before the intervention of the police, who came to the girl's rescue.

The shock video ended up on social media and was acquired by the investigators of the Milan mobile squad: the investigations are coordinated by the prosecutors of the "weaker groups" led by the deputy prosecutor Letizia Mannella.

Some members of the herd, as we learn, have already been identified.

The episode, as explained by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office, recalls what happened in Cologne in 2016, also on New Year's Eve: in that case hundreds of people, acting in separate small groups, attacked, even to rob them, harassed and raped dozens of women, who were walking alone, near the railway station of the German city.

"Group" sexual violence consists, according to the penal code, "in the participation, by several people gathered, in acts of sexual violence" and provides for penalties ranging from eight to fourteen years of imprisonment.
