Another general in charge of the new structure on the vaccination campaign, Draghi appoints Tommaso Petroni

In place of Commissioner Figliuolo, whose office expires on March 31 with the end of the state of emergency, another general arrives as head of the vaccination campaign.
Mario Draghi signed the Dpcm appointing the Major General of the Army Tommaso Petroni as Director of the Unit for the completion of the vaccination campaign and for the adoption of other measures to combat the pandemic, starting from April 1st.
The Unit will be composed of a part of the staff of the support structure for the activities of the Commissioner and of staff in service at the Ministry of Health. The vicarious functions of the Director of the Unit are attributed to Dr. Giovanni Leonardi, director of the Ministry of Health.
WHO IS PETRONI - For about a year, head of the logistics-operational area of the Figliuolo commissioner structure, Petroni is 60 years old and originally from Canosa di Puglia, he enlisted in the Army in 1981.
He has held various command posts and served on missions in Kurdistan, Somalia and Kosovo as well as at NATO headquarters in Valencia.
From October 2018 to April 2021 in Rome he held the positions of Head of the Transport Department and Head of the Materials Department, dealing with the management of all national and international transport in support of Bodies and Departments of the Italian Army.
A logistics and transport expert therefore. Married with two children, Petroni earned a second level master's degree in "Management of complex materials" and completed a post-graduate specialization course in "Logistics Management", both at the Sapienza University of Rome.
Knight of the Republic, he received various honors for peacekeeping missions in Kurdistan, Somalia and Kosovo.
