An 18-year-old girl living in Santarcangelo di Romagna (Rimini) has died, and a girl the same age is hospitalized with a guarded prognosis, but not in danger of life, at Bufalini Hospital in Cesena.

The two girls were involved in a car accident around 7:30 a.m. on the Marecchiese road in the municipality of Santarcangelo while on their way to school. They were riding a Honda SH 125 moped and were overtaking when they were struck by a car driven by a 46-year-old woman.

According to an initial reconstruction by the Rimini traffic police, who intervened together with the 118 emergency services of the Romagna Local Health Authority, the scooter was overtaking a car when it was hit by the woman driving a Dacia Sandero who was turning left.

The 18-year-old woman riding the scooter died from the force of the impact, while her friend's life is not in danger. The two 18-year-olds were classmates. The parents of the girl who was killed arrived immediately, while the shocked female driver was treated by emergency medical services.
