A 63-year-old accountant, Pasquale Calzone, killed his wife, Assunta Currà, 55, with several gunshots and then took his own life with the same weapon .

Tragedy struck Mileto, in the province of Vibo Valentia . The couple had reportedly been separated for about a year . The murder-suicide occurred in the man's home.

According to initial investigations by the Carabinieri of the Vibo Valentia Company, Calzone allegedly killed his wife with a legally held weapon during an argument related to their ongoing separation. The woman had gone to the house where the couple lived before their separation to retrieve some personal belongings . The body was found by Calzone's brother.

The two had an adult son who lives outside Calabria

The investigation is being coordinated by the deputy prosecutor on duty in Vibo Valentia.
