A new large crevasse of 200 meters has formed on the Marmolada
Witnesses heard a loud rumble, the first readingsNew detachment on the Marmolada glacier , where 11 people died following a collapse on 3 July.
The technicians of the Province are carrying out checks: witnesses spoke of a loud rumble on the orographic right of the massif.
From the first aerial surveys, a crevasse with a width of about 200 meters and a thickness between 25 and 35 meters seems to have formed.
The opening stopped the search for the remains of the eleven victims of the disaster . The drones of the national body of the Alpine Rescue also stopped, which in recent days had found parts of technical equipment on the ice, rock and mud flow.
The detection instruments that monitor the ice sheet have recorded small collapses in the area affected by the disaster , with the fall of a few blocks of ice. The movements of the glacier are caused by the particularly high temperatures of the last few days.
Operations will resume when conditions allow for safe work.
