Daniele Pairotto, the 24-year-old who suffered cardiac arrest yesterday while playing on a soccer field in Crova, in the province of Vercelli, has died.

According to the reconstruction, the young man collapsed to the ground after reaching the locker rooms during half-time of the match between Crova and Livorno Ferraris, a match valid for the CSI amateur football championship.

Emergency services immediately rushed to the young man, a Crova member, and began CPR while awaiting the arrival of the ambulance with a doctor on board. The paramedics continued with advanced resuscitation. The young man was transported by helicopter to the Maggiore Hospital in Novara, where he was admitted to intensive care.

His condition, health sources report, immediately appeared extremely serious. Admitted to intensive care, he remained in critical condition throughout the night: instrumental tests in the hours that followed revealed no signs of brain activity.
