'You Ruined My Life': Man Shoots and Kills Wife on Street, Then Commits Suicide

An 81-year-old man – Francesco Longhitano – shot his wife – Anna Lupo, 82 – and then turned the gun on himself and took his own life. It happened in Collegno, in the province of Turin.
According to an initial reconstruction, the man opened fire on the victim with an illegally held weapon, in Piazza della Repubblica, right in front of the town hall of the Piedmontese town. He committed suicide immediately afterwards. His wife, however, did not die immediately: after the alarm was raised on site, rescuers intervened and desperately tried to revive her. However, attempts to save her were in vain.
The Carabinieri also arrived at the scene of the tragedy and have started investigations to clarify the details of the tragedy.
According to initial investigations, the two were walking when he suddenly pulled out his gun and shouted, "You ruined my life!" He then fired three gunshots at his wife, plus a fourth to kill himself.
The first witnesses heard – the local press reports – speak of frequent arguments between the couple and of a "depression" from which the elderly man allegedly suffered.
