Overwhelmed by guilt for having (unintentionally) killed a woman he knew, he took his own life .
The tragedy occurred in Liguria, along the state road 2 in Serra Riccò (Genoa) : a 22-year-old boy driving a car collided with a scooter on which Barbara Wojcik was travelling, both from Sant'Olcese . A very violent impact: according to initial findings, the young man lost control of the vehicle and invaded the other lane, crashing head-on with the scooter travelling in the opposite direction .
The young man, getting out of the car, realized that there was nothing more to be done. And that the woman driving the scooter knew him very well. So he took his own life: it is assumed by cutting his veins with a cutter that was in the car , but the methods will be ascertained by the autopsy.
In Sant'Olcese, a town of 6,000 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Genoa in Val Polcevera, both victims were known: Barbara leaves behind a son . She worked in the Preti confectionery company and was very active in the club of the Sant'Olcese hamlet. There were many posts of grief on social media.
The mayor of Sant'Olcese Sara Dante expressed her grief and the "closeness of the entire municipal administration to the two families" of the missing. "I embrace my community, Sant'Olcese, friends and family for what has tragically happened. There are no words, only grief."
