In Sant'Olcese, a town of 6,000 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Genoa in Val Polcevera, both victims were known: Barbara leaves behind a son . She worked in the Preti confectionery company and was very active in the club of the Sant'Olcese hamlet. There were many posts of grief on social media.

The mayor of Sant'Olcese Sara Dante expressed her grief and the "closeness of the entire municipal administration to the two families" of the missing. "I embrace my community, Sant'Olcese, friends and family for what has tragically happened. There are no words, only grief."
