International meeting in Chilivani: the Anglo-Arab champion De Tzaramonte is close to the tenth victory in a row
The returning Carakas Girl winsIn the final sprint the tenth victory in a row for De Tzaramonte in the Grand Prix for the Anglo-Arabs fades away. The 37th international meeting was held in front of a splendid audience at the Chilivani racecourse.
Beating the champion, by just one head right on the post, was Carakas Girl with Gavino Sanna in the saddle. De Tzaramonte, who had already made history in Anglo-Arab racing by winning nine consecutive times, ridden by the usual Maikol Arras, was forced in the first part to chase D'Aurora, a mare sent ahead by the Carakas Girl coach. A very strong pace with De Tzaramonte who then overtook D'Aurora but in the final straight Carakas Girl, who started from the center of the track to surprise her rival, managed, with an explosive attack, to beat the champion at the post.
However, it should be emphasized that the discharge was not foreseen in the race and therefore De Tzaramonte was three kilos heavier. The half-breed born in Sardinia, owned by Piero Denanni, bred by the same, therefore demonstrated all its value by coming close to victory despite being overweight.
Third place for Carmelino, fourth Chopin. «Usually in these races reserved for Anglo-Arabs», says the expert Roberto Loi, who arrived from Cagliari to follow the races, «there is a discharge in favor of the offspring of both Anglo-Arab parents. De Tzaramonte was assigned a weight of 61 kilograms. If the discharge had been applied, as also happened in the other races, the champion could have brought the weight to 58. We probably would have witnessed a different race. Carakas Girl, queen at the age of three, had been stopped since 2022. She was best prepared by the Cottu team which also lined up the mare D'Aurora in the race. Just the latter animated the race by taking the head up to the straight line opposite to the start. Most likely a team game. Carakas was covered up to the last two hundred meters, when she launched the winning attack».
In the first two races, San Giuliano took full loot. First in the two-year-old thoroughbred foal race, he won with Denaga de l'Alguer and then in the Anica-Omnium Arabian thoroughbred prize, with Divino. Both ridden by Maikol Arras.
In the City of Ozieri Award for Thoroughbreds three years old and older, win of Priol de l'Alguer, ex San Giuliano who preceded in the order Furibondo, the former partner Terry de l'Alguer And Land of Giants. The Mediterranean Horseracing Union Grand Prix for the three-year-old Arab thoroughbreds, Elleno di Trexenta, with the expert Germano Marcelli on the saddle, did not disappoint expectations by dominating the race, preceding GTA Elixir, Electra CPS and Evelindecontrabile.
In the Grand Prix International Confederation of Anglo-Arab, Selvaggio da Clodia won in front of Heretica, Fix and Hero de Bonorva. Finally in Agris Grand Prix, for horses with an Arabian background, spectacular sprint in the finishing straight a few meters from the Ermione Divina pole beats Massimo Meridio. Third place for Emfasi.
