The huge pieces of basalt hour after hour are becoming true works of art . A few days ago a workshop open to the public has been in progress in Uras, during which it is possible to see the hands of various artists at work .

“The strength of young people to change society” is the theme of the national basalt sculpture symposium that is taking place in the town of Terralba, in its first edition.

The artistic event, curated by the artistic director Gigi Taras , is promoted by the Scuola del Popolo of Oristano in collaboration with the Auser and the Municipality of Uras led by Samuele Fenu. Three artists have been selected to transform the stones: they are Aurora Avvantaggiato , a very young sculptor from Taranto, Jacopo Cau , a young sculptor from Ales who studies at the Carrara academy and Giuseppe Solinas , from Villanova Truschedu. The three work morning and evening in the courtyard of the well-equipped Auser headquarters, in via Eleonora 123. The curious, thanks to the Auser members who take care of the reception, can admire the artists at work until 23 October , the day of closing of the symposium with the final presentation of the sculptures that will be arranged and kept in three squares of the town.
