Hayden Panettiere, the American actress best known for her roles in "Heroes" and "Nashville," has died at the age of 36. The news was confirmed by her family: "An incredible light and a force of nature," her father Skip said, asking for privacy in this time of grief.
Born on August 21, 1989, in Palisades, New York, Panettiere began working at a very young age, appearing in a commercial at just 11 months old. International fame came with "Heroes," the NBC series that aired from 2006 to 2010, in which she played Claire Bennet, the cheerleader with regenerative abilities who became one of the show's iconic characters.
Another pivotal role in her career was that of Juliette Barnes in "Nashville," a series that aired from 2012 to 2018. She received two Golden Globe nominations for her performance. Panettiere also starred in films such as "Remember the Titans" and the "Scream" franchise, playing Kirby Reed. As a child, she provided the voice of Dot in the Pixar film "A Bug's Life" and has appeared in numerous television and film productions.
In recent years, Panettiere had spoken openly about the challenges she faced in her personal life, from postpartum depression to alcohol and addiction issues. In May 2026, she published her memoir, "This Is Me: A Reckoning," in which she recounted her experiences and the most difficult years of her life.
The actress became mother in 2014 to her daughter Kaya, with her ex-partner, Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko. In 2018, she relinquished physical custody of the child, who lives with her father.
Panettiere's death comes just over three years after that of her brother Jansen, also an actor, who passed away in February 2023 at the age of 28.
Hayden Panettiere's cause of death has not been made public. According to available information, authorities are investigating the circumstances of his death. Panettiere would have turned 37 on August 21st.
